Mallya, Paswan, Jethmalani, Sharma, Naidu, others Make it to RS – BJD Sweep in Orissa

Union Minster Anand Sharma, liquor baron Vijay Mallya, noted lawyer Ram Jethmalani, former BJP president Venkaiah Naidu and LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan all sailed into the Rajya Sabha even as the BJD effected a clean sweep on all the three seats in Orissa.

In Karnataka, Vijay Mallya won as an Independent candidate backed by JD(S) and the BJP, Congress’ Oscar Fernandes, BJP’s Venkaiah Naidu and Ayanur Manjunath, were the others that made the grade.

In Bihar,  Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan, BJP spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Ram Kripal Yadav of the RJD and RP Singh of the Janata Dal have been elected.

Octogenarian Ram Jethmalani (BJP) and Anand Sharma and Ashq Ali Tank (both Congress), have made the grade, in a nail biting finish.

In Orissa, BJD pulled off a clean sweep with Pyarimohan Mohapatra, Sashi Bhushan Behera and Baishnab Charan Parida being elected to the RS.
