Madni Key Aid to Saeed, Says Delhi Police
The recently arrested Pakistani national Mohd Omar Madni a prime accused in Mumbai Terror attack, is a key aide of Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Mohd Saeed, said police.
Elit anti-terror wing Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested Madni from near Qutab Minar in South Delhi.
A senior police official said that he is a close aide of Hafiz Saeed and has been operating from Nepal from the past one year.
The official said that Madni has been a close aide of Saeed since 2000 and was involved in “talent scouting” for the Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit.
Though no arms and ammunition were recovered from Madni, he was found to be in possession of a diary, a Nepali driving licence, an identity card, fake Nepalese currency of Rs 8,000 and 8,000 dollars. He belongs to Bihar and he is a graduate.
Madni, who has four brothers, came to Aligarh from Nepal and then landed in Delhi.
It may be mentioned that the UN Security Council had banned JuD, declaring it a front for LeT.
Saeed, a prime accused in the Mumbai attacks case, was set free on Wednesday by the Lahore High Court after a six-month detention.
