Kalmadi receive a slipper outside court today

NEW DELHI: CWG organising committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi welcomed with a slipper on his head in the Patiala House Court complex in New Delhi on Tuesday.

As soon as he entered the court complex for being produced before a special CBI court, a man threw the slipper at 66-year-old Kalmadi, who was escorted by a posse of policemen.

Police said, the person, identified as Kapil Thakur and was immediately detained.

Kalmadi has been charged with cheating, conspiracy and corruption in connection with awarding some Games contracts. He was being taken for production before a special CBI court after being arrested yesterday for his alleged involvement in irregularities in Commonwealth Games projects.
