Jayalalithaa arrived Delhi first time after winning Tamil Nadu elections

NEW DELHI: On Tuesday Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa said, every Indian has a right to protest against corruption. On her first visit to Delhi after sweeping the Tamil Nadu elections, Jayalalithaa has received the political equivalent of a standing, with Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

“Every Indian citizen has the democratic right to protest against corruption. Everybody should be given the right to exercise their democratic right,” said as a criticism of the government’s attacks on Gandhian Anna Hazare and yoga guru Baba Ramdev.

Jayalalithaa was asked to comment on the recent protests organised by Hazare and Ramdev.

But she refuses to give comments on the proposed Lokpal bill, saying her government had sought more time to respond to the questions posed by the central government on the subject.

Also today Tamil Nadu CM has met the Prime Minister, where she reportedly discussed Sri Lankan Tamils and a power crisis in her state with Dr Manmohan Singh.
