Sharad Yadav attacks BJP-led government: Centre failed to bring back black money stashed abroad

Patna: Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav on Sunday attacked the BJP-led government at the Centre for failing to deliver on its promise of bringing back black money stashed abroad.

He also trained guns on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for not taking action against those whose names have appeared in the Panana Papers investigation.

Without taking any names, Sharad Yadav tweeted, “Neither black money stashed abroad returned, one of the main slogans of the ruling party, nor anyone caught out of those named in Panama papers”.

Sharad Yadav’s tweet comes close on the heels of his party joining hands with the BJP to form the government in Bihar.

Led by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, JD(U) walked out of the Grand Alliance with Lalu Prasad’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress in the state.

Reports of rift between Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad started doing rounds after corruption charges were levelled against the latter and his family, including son and then deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav.

After the CBI raided Lalu Prasad’s house and other premises, the Opposition upped the ante against the Nitish Kumar government on letting a ‘tainted’ minister continue in the Cabinet.

While ending the alliance with RJD and Congress, Nitish Kumar said he heard the voice of his conscience and never asked for anyone’s resignation.

It has been reported that some senior leaders of JD(U), including Sharad Yadav, are not happy with Nitish Kumar’s decision to pull out of Grand Alliance and join hands with the BJP.

Sharad Yadav recently held an hour-long meeting at his residence, which was attended by JD(U) general secretaries Arun Srivastava and Javed Raza and Rajya Sabha MPs Ali Anwar and Veerendra Kumar.

According to Arun Srivastava, Sharad Yadav called Nitish’s decision to walk out of Grand Alliance as “personal”.

“While Nitish Kumar has been clear with his stand against corruption since the beginning but he also had another stand–to fight against communalism,” JD(U) MP Ali Anwar said.
