Jagan to Call on Sonia
Congress MP Jagan Mohan Reddy has arrived in Delhi and will call on party chief Sonia Gandhi to talk about the tour that landed him in trouble with the party, said media reports.
“My intentions are clear…my heart is free of guilt…I have a lot of faith in Sonia Gandhi,” Jagan was quoted as saying ahead of his meeting with Gandhi.
The Congress MP who lost his father and former Andrha Pradesh CM YSR in helicopter crashy, had defied party instructions on ‘Odarp Yatra’ and was taken into preventive custody when started out.
He insists that his tour was ‘not being conducted as politician’, reasoning, “I had gone to my father’s crash site to attend a condolence meeting….I gave my word to families that I would visit them.”
After YSR’s death, several people committed suicide or died of shock, allegedly over the chief ministe’s accident.
The Congress central leadership had asked Jagan not to go ahead with his ‘Odarpu Yatra’ in Telangana because of the tension in the region over whether to grant a separate state for Telangana.
