Probe on after Ambani’s Copter Found Tampered

In a suspected bid to sabotage a helicopter owned Anil Ambani group which put Airport officials and police on tizzy Thursday evening, Mumbai police have started an investigation but have found no clue as yet, said investigating officers.

Senior Inspector SM Ghuge of the Santacruz Airport Police Station said that police are still investigating the matter and questioning the people concerned with the helicopter’s maintenance.

“We shall initiate appropriate proceedings, including arresting them, only after getting proper evidence,” Ghuge said.

After receiving a complaint on Thursday evening that some pebbles and mud were discovered in the chopper’s fuel tank, the police got into action. The pebbles and mud could have jeopardised the helicopter’s safety.

A senior official of Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) said the seven-seater Bell 412 helicopter was for non-scheduled operations and belonged to the Anil Ambani group.

He said that several private operators use the hangars at the southern end of the airport, which are maintained and looked after by private contractors.

“It is very difficult for us to say who are the persons having authorised access to such sensitive areas,” he added
