Indian Consulate Says Headley’s Visa Papers Never Went Missing

Indian Consulate in Chicago has said that papers pertaining to issuance of visas to suspected Lashkar operatives David Coleman Headley and Tahawwur Hussain Rana had not gone missing and that the ‘relevant information’ is available with the Indian government.

“We have not reported loss of any papers regarding issuance of visa to David Coleman Headley and Tahawwur Hussain Rana. Relevant information concerning the issuance of visa to these persons is available with the Government of India,” a senior consulate official was quoted as saying by PTI in Chicago.

Yesterday, a report surfaced in the media that papers on the ground of which Headley and Rana got visas by the Consulate had gone missing mysteriously.

Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao in New Delh said that she had asked for a ‘factual report’ from Chicago’s Consulate General on the issue.
