BSP Sweeps UP Legislative Council Elections, Wins 33 Seats

BSP has swept Legislative Council elections held for 36 seats, winning 31 out of the 33 seats results of which were declared on Wednesday, said report. Congress and SP won one seat each.

The Congress won the Rae Bareli seat and the SP Pratapgarh seat, while the BJP failed to open even its account, reported Express Buzz.

Reports said that the results for the remaining three seats will be declared on Thursday.

After the declaration of results, BSP supremo and UP chief minister Mayawati said that the results were an open acceptance of the pro-people policies of her government as much as a slap on the face of the Opposition for its disinformation campaign against the ruling party, said report

“The Legislative Council elections were held under the strict watch of the Election Commission and all the disinformation spread by the Opposition parties regarding misuse of the official machinery or other unconstitutional means was not accepted by the Commission. It was a fair election and the people willingly supported the policies pursued by my government,” Mayawati was quoted as saying.
