15 districts’ women Panchayat representatives informed about electoral process

Bhopal: Information regarding innovations being made during Panchayat elections-2014 and other procedures was given under voter awareness programme to women Panchayat representatives of 15 districts here today. Commission’s Deputy Secretary Shri Buddhesh Vaidya informed them about EVMs and photo bearing electoral rolls to be used for the first time in Panchayat elections.

Shri Vaidya informed that women have 50 percent reservation in Panchayat elections. He informed that security deposit has been doubled this time. Shri Vaidya informed that photo bearing voter slips will also be distributed.

Sushri Sheela Dahima informed about model code of conduct, nomination process, declaration and affidavits. She took women office-bearers to model polling booth in State Election Commission and apprised them about complete process. On the occasion, booklet “Panchayat Chunawon Ke Sawal-Jawab” published by Hunger Project under SVEEP and SENSE campaigns and slogans for voter awareness campaign were released. Under the project, office-bearers also informed about electoral process.
