JD(U) contest against BJP in Gujarat assembly polls

New Delhi: Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal-United (JD-U), a major constituent of BJP led NDA, is planning to field its candidates to oppose ruling BJP in coming Gujarat assembly polls. JD-U national president Sharad Yadav and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will also be campaigning against Narendra Modi led BJP government in Gujarat.

Nitish Kumar and Sharad Yadav will appeal the people of Gujarat to oust Narendra Modi led BJP from power in the state and give opportunity to JD-U to form government in the state.

It is to be noted that during Bihar Assembly polls in 2010, Nitish Kumar was opposed to Narendra Modi visiting Bihar to campaign for NDA. Even recently, many media reports suggested that Nitish was averse to Modi’s proposed elevation to NDA’s prime Ministerial candidate.

JD-U is planning to field 35 candidates in coming Gujarat assembly polls. Party general secretary and in charge of Gujarat affairs, KC Tyagi, has said this. Tyagi is slated to visit the state next month.

In 2007 Gujarat Assembly polls, JD-U had fielded 33 candidates out of which only one could emerged victorious. But this time, the party leadership believes that the party could increase its tally.
