In Ruchika Case, CBI Seeks Maximum Two-year Term for Rathore

In Ruchika molestation case, the CBI has sought a sought a maximum term of two years for former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore before a court in Chandigarh which deferred the hearing till February 8, reported PTI.

Hearing CBI’s submission and a revision petition by complainant Madhu Parkash, Additional District and Sessions Judge R S Attri also issued notice to Rathore, report said quoting Ruchika family’s counsel Pankaj Bhardwaj.

The CBI had filed the appeal before the court on Thursday challenging the six-month sentence awarded to Rathore for molesting 14-year-old Ruchika in 1990, three years after which she committed suicide.

Rathore was convicted on December 21 by the court of CBI magistrate J S Sidhu and sentenced to six months’ rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 10,000, which had raised a public outrage as the former IPS officer had been let off with a lighter sentence.
