I Have No Locus Standi on the Issue: Arjun on Anderson’s Release

In the eye of a storm over former Union Carbide Corporation Chairman Warren Anderson’s release, senior Congress leader Arjun Singh has sought to lob the ball in the Centre’s court, though party refused to join the issue, said media reports.

“I have no locus standi on this issue,” Singh was quoted as saying breaking his two-week long silence on Anderson’s exit.

He was the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh when the Bhopal gas tragedy occurred

Nevertheless, Congress has refused to comment on remarks of the senior leader whom it has been targeting ever since verdict came in Bhopal gas tragedy case, reports said.

“GoM is looking into the whole matter and the party has nothing to say. The party has already said whatever it had to say on the issue,” AICC general secretary and media department in-charge Janardhan Dwivedi was quoted as saying in response to comment on Singh’s remarks published in the newspaper.

Singh has also indicated that his autobiography, on which he is working, will have details, the newspaper said.
