Sheila Dixit demands removal of Police commissioner Neeraj Kumar

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Sunday held an emergency meet with Home     Minister Sushilkumar Shinde over the law and order situation in the national capital in view of the recent gang rape of 23-year-old girl.
she demanded removal of city police commissioner Neeraj Kumar for inefficient police patrolling on capital streets. Steering the demand of high security measures in Delhi, the Chief Minister said that there is a need to cut the VVIP security deployment and giving adequate safety to the common citizens of the nation.

Dikshit said the city government would urge the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court for immediate setting up of fast-track courts to try rape cases and to get justice in a time-bound manner.

She said that suspension of a few lower-level policemen was not enough and senior officers should also be held accountable.

While slamming police’s move of firing balls of tear gas and lathicharge on protestors to disperse the crowd at Rajpath, she said that citizens are making genuine demands for justice to that 23-year-old who was brutally raped by six men. The police should not resort to such measures.
Shinde, on Russian President’s visit to Capital on Monday, appealed protestors not to resort on violent measures and urged them to maintain peace. He said that during Putin’s visit, no untoward incident should be reported which spoils reputation of our country.
