Hurly-burly of Politics No Place for Holy Men, Says Sadhu on Ramdev’s Political Plans

A holy man in Haridwar has expressed his doubt about Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev’s proposal to launch a political party dedicated to cleanse the system, reported ANI.

“Ramdev is a successful yogi, but politics will puncture him,” Sri Nityanand Puri was quoted as saying.

“God has given him some gifts, but his ego will finish him. The hurly-burly of politics is no place for holy men,” Puri was quoted as saying by the New York Times.

“He thinks that he can fix all the wrongs. He will be consumed by the dirt of politics,” he was quoted as saying.

On the other hand, Jitender Puri, 36, a Digambar sadhu, who is attending the Kumbh Mela festival in the town, said that Swami Ramdev was doing important work, report said.

“He is thinking in the right direction and talking about the problems of the nation like corruption, poverty, economy. I think he will succeed,” he was quoted as saying.
