CM pays tribute to legendary tribal leader Karma anniversary

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday paid floral tributes to former Minister and tribal leader Mahendra Karma on his birth anniversary.

“Karma was not only a politician but also a sensitive, aware and emotional person. He was known as ‘Bastar Tiger’ for his strength and courage to fight for the rights of the tribals,” he said.

“He was a selfless person and a loyal friend. Karma fought for the tribals till the last moment of his life,” Baghel said.

The Chhattisgarh government has named Bastar University after him and started ‘Shaheed Mahendra Karma Tendupatta Sangrahak Samajik Suraksha Yojana’ for the Tendupatta collectors’ families, Baghel added.
