Hearing in Shiney Ahuja Case Put off till Oct 16

A sessions court has deferred to October 16 the hearing on trial of actor Shiney Ahuja in a case of rape of his home maid in the wake of submission by defence counsel that the Bombay High Court has stayed the framing of charges for a week.

In the case, hearing on framing of charges on actor was expected to take place in the court today.

Yesterday, the Bombay High Court had stayed framing of charges against Ahuja until next week following prosecution’s request for some time to reply to the petition filed by the actor seeking forensic and medical reports.

The actor, who held his wife Anupam’s hands throughout the trial, was seen wearing a ‘tilak’ from the Siddhivinayak temple, where he offered prayers this morning.

Ahuja’s lawyer Shrikant Shivade today informed the trial court about the High Court order after which Judge S R Trivedi adjourned the matter till October 16.
