Army Chief General Reviews Security Situation in Leh

During his first visit to Jammu and Kashmir after taking over as Army Chief, General VK Singh on Tuesday reviewed the security situation along strategic Sino-India border in the Ladakh region, reported PTI.

Accompanied by his wife Bharti, General Singh arrived on a three-day tour to Leh in the morning, said report.

He was received by the General Officer Commanding in Chief, Northern Command Lt Gen B S Jaswal, Leh-based 14 Corps Commander, Lt Gen S K Singh, report said.

Report quoted unnamed defence sources as saying that General Singh, soon after his arrival, reviewed the security situation along the Sino-Indian and Indo-Pak borders in Ladakh region.

Field commanders briefed him about operational preparedness and various other security measures in the frontier region, said report.

They said that he later flew to state capital Srinagar for reviewing the security situation, counter terrorist operation and cross-border infiltration in the area, report said.
