Trinamool Against Force Acquisition of Land: Mamata
Expressing Trinamool Congress party’s stand on land acquisition, Railway minister Mamata Banerjee has said that her party is totally against acquiring land forcibly for industrialisation and that the choice should be of people’s.
“We are against forcible acquisition of land. Our party fought in Singur and Nandigram against land acquisition. If the people agree to give land it is their decision,” Banerjee said.
It may be mentioned that at a meeting of the union cabinet last week, Banerjee had purportedly taken sharp objection to the bill relating to land acquisition for industrialsation
Speaking at a public meeting here in Birbhum district, she was, however, careful not to appear anti-industry.
“We will develop infrastructure, agriculture and industry, provide electricity, water, education and health in villages which the CPI-M has failed to do in its prolonged rule,” she said.
