First phase of Covid vaccination in Chhattisgarh from tomorrow

The first phase of Covid vaccination in Chhattisgarh will begin from January 16. Initially it will happen in 99 vaccination centres, a government press release said on Thursday.

In-charge Chief Secretary Subrat Sahoo chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee and reviewed the preparation for vaccination on Thursday.

“On January 16, following the launch of Covid-19 vaccination programme, vaccination will begin in Chhattisgarh. As per the instructions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, preparations for vaccination in the state have been completed. Health workers will be the first to receive vaccination,” Sahoo was quoted as saying in a press release.

For two-way-interaction with the central government on launch day, the Medical college at Raipur and the Maharani Hospital at Jagdalpur have been identified.

Sahoo told officials to ensure proper and safe vaccination. He stressed the need to run an awareness campaign in coordination with different departments. Chhattisgarh has received 3.32 lakh doses of Covidshield vaccine, he said.

The vaccine doses were shifted to 18 districts on January 13 and the remaining doses are being moved. The second dose of vaccine will be sent to districts 28 days later, he said, adding every identified person will receive two doses.

During the meeting, officials told Sahoo that names of 267,399 healthcare workers have been registered in the Covin portal.
