FBI Chief Meets Chidambaram

Visiting Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) chief, Robert Mueller, Tuesday met Union home minister, P Chidambaram, to discuss security and counter-terrorism measures in context of the Mumbai terror attacks.

Mueller is also expected to meet the National Security Adviser, MK Narayanan, and Intelligence Bureau Director, Rajiv Mathur, to discuss the investigations into the 26/11 Mumbai terror strikes.

The FBI has been helping Indian agencies investigate into the macabre Mumbai strikes and has extended technical assistance in analysing voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) and global positioning system of satellite phones used by the terrorists.

The support had helped India to nail Pakistan for misuse of its land for anti-India activities. India had allowed the FBI to analyse evidence collected from various locations and question Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone attacker captured alive during the audacious attacks on Mumbai.

“Mueller’s visit was not unexpected as both the FBI and Indian Intelligence agencies came close during the investigating process of last year’s Mumbai terror attacks,” said a home ministry official.
