Domestic Help Surender Koli Convicted in Nithari Case

A special court in Ghaziabad has found domestic aide Surender Koli guilty of the rape and murder of seven-year-old Arti, one of the 19 women and children from Noida’s Nithari village whose body parts were found in a drain, reports said.

Arguments for the quantum of punishment will be held on Wednesday, reports said.

Of the 19 cases of kidnapping, rape and killing, the CBI filed chargesheet in 16 and all of them are being separately tried.

Koli, 38, was charged with rape, abduction and murder in all these cases while his employer Pandher, 55, is co-accused in only six cases. The body parts of victims were found behind Pandher’s bungalow.

Immediately after Koli was charged with Arti’s killing, his father, taxi driver Durga Prasad, moved a review petition before the special court against the pronouncement of the judgment, said reports.

In the plea, he said that he made his statement before the court under CBI duress and requested that it be recorded again, reports said.

He also said he would appeal to the High Court to ensure that Pandher was chargesheeted, said reports.

“We are not satisfied with the entire handling of the case, so we will appeal to the Allahabad High Court, in which we will prosecute Pandher,” Prasad was quoted as saying while talking to reporters outside the court.
