Chinese companies inclined towards self-help groups’ products

Bhopal: As many as 48 self-help groups from 32 districts participated in 3-day “Haat of India” held to improve quality of self-help groups’ (SHGs) projects and to explore possibilities of providing a large market to them. At the 3-day exposition and investment summit organised by Panchayats and Rural Development Department, Chinese companies evinced interest in self-help groups’ products. The Chinese representatives also bought large number of special products of rural areas.

New possibilities for making available international market to SHGs’ products have emerged at Haat of India organised jointly by Madhya Pradesh Livelihoods Forum and India-China Economic and Cultural Council. The Chinese companies evinced great interest in self-help groups’ products and their marketing.

Through successful initiative of Haat of India, steps can be initiated to adopt Chinese concept of Village Enterprise and Township Model in Madhya Pradesh. New employment and livelihood opportunities will emerge in both farming and non-farming sectors in Madhya Pradesh. Apart from strengthening of rural economy, large number of jobs will also become available to youths.

It is noteworthy that over 150 representatives of 80 industries from China and Chinese ambassador to India Shri Wei Wei participated in Haat of India from December 21 to 23. They also held discussions on setting joint ventures with states’ entrepreneurs. Over 40 Chinese companies have evinced interest in investing in tourism, agriculture and food processing. For this, the Chinese companies have also expressed wish to set up joint ventures with entrepreneurs and partnership of SHGs. Four Chinese companies have also shown interest toward contribution in development of Buddha Park in Sanchi and Vidisha areas.
