Delhi Rains Plug Deficiency Gaps, Leave Gaping Holes

Incessant rains lashed Delhi for the second consecutive day on Friday, though the downpour bridged gaps in the deficient monsoons, disruptions in vehicular traffic were reported from several parts of the city.

9.4 mm rainfall was recorded between 0830 hours and 1730 hours this evening, the city posted the lashing at around 38.2 mm between midnight and 0830 hours this morning, say media reports citing Met officials.

The weathermen are optimistic of the city surpassing the normal monsoon standard of 588.1 mm rainfall by Saturday.

At the moment the average rainfall in the city stands at 576.8 mm.

Traffic was disrupted at several city roads, with media reports suggesting that the average vehicular speed was down to 5-10 kmh during peak traffic hours.

Busy ring road intersections at Kalindi Kunj and Dhaula Kuan, where commuters said the road was totally broken, were reported to be the worst hit.
