Declined to break the fast: Hazare

NEW DELHI: Anna Hazare declared on Thursday that he is willing to continue his fight till he is alive. He said that his battle against corruption would not end any time soon. Anna Hazare is on a fast-unto-death at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar demanding strict anti-corruption laws,

Saying “this is a do-or-die movement” the veteran social activist and Gandhian declined to end his indefinite hunger strike while addressing his supporters.

“Corrupt ministers should not be included in the Cabinet,” demanding a clean political system the 72-year-old anti-corruption crusader said.
He also demanded transparency in selection of people in the joint committee that has been promised by the Government.

“We are equally responsible for electing such corrupt politicians. Why do we vote such people?” he said while asking people to elect only those leaders who were not corrupt.

Hazare said, “If the Government does not listen to our demands then people will force this Government out of power. The 2G, Adarsh Society, Commonwealth Games and other scams got exposed because of the RTI (Right to Information Act). Now it is the time to put the culprits behind bars for which Lokpal Bill is necessary. My hunger strike would not end till the Bill is passed. This is a do-or-die movement.” Amid loud applause he said that while scams were coming to light every day, not a single corrupt leader was being punished.

Earlier after meeting Hazare supporters, Swami Agnivesh and Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi, Union Telecommunications Minister Kapil Sibal requested the veteran social activist and Gandhian to end his fast.
