Anna Hazare is also corrupt: Congress
NEW DELHI: Congress now accused Anna Hazare of being involved in corruption launching a frontal attack on the social activist.
Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari said while addressing a press conference, “Anna Hazare has violated basic courtesy and has a lot to answer.”
He said Justice Sawant Commission report on corruption had named Anna Hazare. Before sitting on fast against corruption, he should first answer that. His double standard is exposed.
In a late Saturday night response to Hazare who rejected Delhi police conditions to limit his protest to three days and 5,000 people, Singh told the social activist that his grievances needed to be “addressed by the statutory authorities who have taken the decision”.
PM replied Anna’s letter saying, “My office does not in any way get involved in the decision-making process.”
The social activist accused the government of “deceit” by putting conditions on his agitation and sought the intervention of the Prime Minister asking him to “show courage” and protect his fundamental rights.
Singh said “the terms and conditions on which you are entitled to carry on with your protest are decided by the statutory authorities concerned taking into account the prevailing circumstances and other relevant factors”.
“We are all committed to the Constitution of India and to uphold it in both letter and spirit”, said the Prime Minister.
