Central study team assesses crop loss in villages of Sagar and Damoh Distt.

Bhopal. A Central study team took stock of crop loss due to drought during Kharif season 2015 in villages of Sagar district today. Under leadership of Shri A.K. Shrivastava, members of the Central study team held discussion with farmers at villages Jhila and Batyawada.

People of Jhila informed the team that soybean crops were sown in 90 percent area and urad 10 percent area in the village, which has suffered loss due to drought. The team also sought information about drinking water arrangements and power supply situation.

At village Batyawada, the team apprised themselves of situation of irrigation. The team also sought information about Kisan Credit Cards. People informed that banks have deducted their crop insurance premium, but they have not received crop insurance claim amount.

Central team advised villagers to work under MNREGA. They were also advised to increase milk production. Collector apprised the study team of crop loss situation. After the visit, the team held discussions and sought information from officers of Agriculture, Irrigation, Horticulture, Fisheries, Rural Development and Animal Husbandry Deptt.

In Damoh district

The Central study team also visited various villages in Damoh district to assess crop loss today. At village Kumeriya, the team members held detailed discussions with people. They sought information about drinking water, power supply situation and availability of fertilizers and seeds. Villagers informed that the villages is facing shortage of water for both irrigation and drinking. Water level of handpumps has depleted.

The Central study team sought information about sown crops and Kisan Credit Cards. The team advised farmers to sow notified crops to avail benefit of crop insurance. MLA Shri Lakhan Patel also talked to the Central team.
