Clad in violet uniforms, sanitary workers active in Simhastha Mela area

Ujjain. Effective solid waste management arrangements have been ensured for Simhastha. Clad in violet uniforms, sanitary workers are active in Simhastha Mela area. About one crore devotees will take bath daily during Shahi Snans and 20-25 lakh during general days. About 1000 to 1200 MT garbage will be lifted per day. Quantity of garbage will be doubles during Shahi Snans. Ujjain Municipal Corporation has chalked out a plan to lift 2500 MT garbage during Shahi Snans. In Ujjain city also, 300 MT garbage will be lifted.

Mela area has been divided into Package-A and Package-B for waste disposal. In Package-A, 3000 sanitary workers will be deployed. Kal Bhairav and Mangalnath have been included in Package-B, where 2000 sanitary workers will be deployed. Manual as well as mechanical cleaning will be undertaken on Ghats. Jet machines will also be used to clean ghats. Nets will be used to fish out waste from Kshipra river. In Mela area, 45 small vehicles will collect waste regularly. About 20 twin dumper placer trucks will also be used. In all, 10 compactor vehicles, 40 tipper vehiclds and 40 dumper placer trucks will be pressed into service.

Four road sweeping machines will clean about 400 km long roads in Mela area. Speed of these machines is 15 km per hour. One sanitary worker will be deployed on every 50 feet on 80 feet wide road, one per 100 metres on 60 feet wide roads. Special vigilance squads will monitor sanitary works in Mela area.
