Bomb Threat At Kolkata Airport, Search Operation Underway

New Delhi: The Tuesday morning in the City of Joy started with on a tizzy note for the security personnel and passengers at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport when they received a phone call threatening to blow up the Guwahati bound Air India flight AI 729.
According to the reports, the call was received at 8.20 am. Soon after the call, security forces, along with the bomb disposal squad pressed into action. All the passengers were de-boarded and the aircraft was taken into bay where it was screened for any explosives.

“We have evacuated the aircraft and now it has been taken to the isolation bay, where search operation is being carried out. Till now, we have not been able to find anything on board the aircraft,” said a senior official of the CISF, in charge of the airport security.

On the other hand, the Bidhannagar City Police acted promptly and have traced the individual who had made the threat call. According to the latest updates, the woman who had called identified herself as a resident of Rajarhat.
