C’garh not has a history of mere 19 years: Baghel

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel recalled that Chhattisgarh was dreamt by ancestors long before the state came into existence in 2000. “Its history is not that of mere 19 years”, he said.

Baghel was speaking at the inaugural function of Rajyotsava, held at local science college on Friday evening. He remembered the ancestors who dreamt for a separate state and said their dream was fulfilled 19 years ago.

He further said that state populace by giving an impressive mandate to them have shown their trust on Congress government and claimed that they had done their level best to fulfill their aspirations in past 10 months. “The people have appreciated our efforts and the increase in legislative seats’ tally is a testimony for the same”, he added.

Citing Narva Garva Ghurva Badi (NGGB), Baghel reiterated his government’s commitment for strengthening rural economy in the state. The farm loan waiver and declaration of Rs 2500 Minimum Support Price had encouraged ruralites to go for farming and this will certainly boost the rural economy, he claimed.

He also backed the state government’s patronage to regional festivals and claimed that it will lead to revival of rich cultural heritage of the state.

Earlier, Chief Minister read out a message from Congress president Sonia Gandhi in which she claimed that now the pace of development will be accelerated as the Congress government had come to power after a long gap of 15 years.

Sonia also appreciated the Congress government in the state for marinating peace and harmony. “At a time when most of the states are engulfed in communal hatred under ‘saffron terror’ the Chhattisgarh is focusing on development”, she claimed.
