Government doctors should upgrade skills in era of competition

Bhopal: Commissioner Health and Family Welfare Shri Pankaj Agrawal inaugurated a one-day workshop on safe abortion through medicine here today. He urged government doctors to upgrade their skills in this era of competition. He said that objective of providing quality health services to people can be fulfilled only through this. Government doctors associated with safe abortion service delivery in districts attended the workshop.

State Director of National Rural Health Mission Dr. M. Geeta said that dream of Madhya Pradesh’s development cannot be fulfilled until we reduce maternal mortality rate. He said that 8 percent maternal mortality cases in the state are due to unsafe abortion. Safe abortion service in the state is being provided with the cooperation of I-Pass organisation to free women from this problem. He informed that for this, training is being imparted to doctors in 8 district hospitals, 5 medical colleges and one civil hospital in the state. Dr. Geeta said that delivery of this service has been to be ensured in primary health centres of B-MOCK Level-2. These include other health facilities for women.
Director Health Dr. Sanjay Goyal said that safe abortion is a major problem in rural areas. For overcoming this problem in villages, there should be better coordination between ASHA workers, Janani Suraksha vehicles and Express Call Centre. Besides, cooperation of Anganwadi workers, ANM and members of VHSC should also be sought. Indian representatives of I-Pass from New Delhi Dr. Sangeeta Batra also spoke on the occasion.
