BCCI chief’s son-in-law linked to spot fixing scandal

New Delhi: The phone-call details of Arrested Actor Vindu Dara Singh indicates that BCCI chief N Srinivasan’s son-in-law Guru Meiyappan has been closely associated with him.
Now the police are preparing to summon Meiyappan for questioning. BCCI chief Srinivasan is the owner of Chennai Super Kings and his son-in-law Meiyappan is the Team Principal and CEO. Actor Vindoo was arrested by Mumbai police on Thursday when they learnt about his link with bookies. Vindoo’s arrest is also likely to uncover more dubious links and associations in the spot-fixing mess.
Acting on the clues indicating towards the suspicious association of Vindoo with bookies, the Mumbai police on Tuesday arrested him. Mumbai’s Joint Commissioner of Police Himanshu Roy said Vindoo was arrested from his Juhu residence as soon as the police learnt about his association with the bookies. Virendra Dara Singh Randhawa alias Vindoo Dara Singh was involved in match fixing and it’s being said that he used to charge 0.25 to 0.50 percent commission to arrange money.
According to sources, Vindoo has admitted his guilt saying he was involved in spot-fixing for the past four years. One more bookie and a Hawala agent were arrested on Tuesday in this connection. The police have registered a case of forgery and conspiracy under several sections of Indian Penal Code. Vindoo, along with three others were later presented at Metropolitan Magistrate MN Saleem’s court. The court sent the actor to police custody for three days till May 24.
Besides this, another bookie Prem Taneja, who is believed to be close to Vindoo, was arrested at Mumbai airport when he was trying to escape to Dubai. On the basis of phone call details, it has been found that Vindoo was in touch with Jupiter and several other bookies.
