Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 49 runs in Match 33 of IPL 2023, at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday. Chasing a target of 236, KKR reached 186/8 in 20 overs, despite half-centuries from Jason Roy (61) and Rinku Singh (53*). Meanwhile, Maheesh Theekshana and Tushar Deshpande took two wickets each for CSK. Initially, CSK reached 235/4 in 20 overs, courtesy of half-centuries from Ajinkya Rahane, Devon Conway and Shivam Dube. Rahane clobbered an unbeaten knock of 71 runs off 29 balls, packed with six fours and five sixes. Meanwhile, Conway hammered 56 runs off 40 deliveries, including four fours and three maximums. Dube was also in hot form and clattered 50 runs off 21 balls, drilling two fours and five maximums. For CSK’s bowling department, Kulwant Khejroliya took two wickets, Suyash Sharma and Varun Chakravarthy grabbed a dismissal each.

Chennai Super Kings posted the highest IPL score at the Eden Gardens to clinically defeat the Kolkata Knight Riders in the second match of Sunday’s double-header.
