Alliance with JDU to Remain ‘Intact’: BJP

The BJP has said that its truck with the JDU will continue to be ‘intact’ in spite of differences with Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, said media reports.

“We are meeting today to sort out the issues with the JD(U) and not to aggravate it. Our alliance with the JD(U) would be intact,” party spokesman Ramnath Kovind was quoted as saying.

He said that JDU-BJP government in Bihar has executed many development works in past five years and that the party wouldn’t break the alliance ‘simply on this emotional issue’, reports said.

On Saturday, Nitish had returned Rs 5 crore aid given to Bihar for Kosi flood relief after Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi went public with it during a BJP leadership meeting last week.

Since then, the two sides have been locked in a war of words, triggering fears that their alliance may snap ahead of assembly elections this year.
