Alleged Gurshan Killer Denied Bail, Suspected of Immigration Fraud

Gursewak Dhillon, the part-time cabbie and the alleged killer of Indian toddler Gurshan Singh Channa, has been denied bail and is suspected of ‘possible immigration fraud’, said media reports.

According the Age, immigration officials are investigating allegations that Dhillon was living in Australia on a false passport, reports said.

“Allegations have been made that the man charged is being investigated for possible immigration fraud,” a spokesperson at the Department of Immigration was quoted as saying.

Gurshan’s body was found on Thursday night on Wildwood Road after a massive search following a complaint by his parents who were staying in Lalor, over 20 km away.

Dhillon was remanded in custody to appear for a committal hearing June 29.
