957 KM roads built under Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojna

Bhopal. So far, 957 kilometer long 531 all-weather roads have been built under Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojna in Madhya Pradesh. Besides, 5351 bridges and culverts have also been constructed. Work is progressing fast for linking remote villages of less than 500 population and tribal villages with less than 250 population with all-weather roads in the state. A target has been set under Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojna to built 7575 roads and 11 thousand 954 bridges and culverts in the state. So far, construction of 3212 roads has been started.
Panchayats & Rural Development Minister Shri Gopal Bhargava informed that about Rs. 3634 crore will be spent on the construction of roads, bridges and culverts under Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojna. Of this, Rs. 108 crore 58 lakh have been spent so far. State’s 9109 villages will be linked with all-weather roads with effective implementation of Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojna. As a result of this initiative, benefits of various development schemes will percolate to such small villages easily.
A total of 23690 kilometer long 674 roads will be built in forest area under Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojna. Their construction will cost Rs. 457 crore. The speed of construction of roads in the forest areas will pick up after removal of hurdles. In this context, coordination is being made with Forest Department officers at divisional level meetings.
