Implement recommendations of 14th Finance Commission

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan met Union Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley in New Delhi today. During about half an hour long meeting, Shri Chouhan urged the Union Finance Minister to fully implement recommendations of 14th Finance Commission. Shri Jaitley gave a patient hearing to the Chief Minister and assured to extend maximum cooperation from Central government.

The Chief Minister said that in accordance with recommendations of 14th Finance Commission, every state can be given 3.5 percent of its GDP as advance for development works keeping in view states’ fiscal indices. Shri Chouhan urged that Madhya Pradesh should be given advance as per these norms.

Shri Chouhan also apprised the Union Finance Minister of issues pertaining to Simhastha to be held at Ujjain in 2016. He informed that over 5 crore people will participate in the mega event. The state government will need about Rs. 3500 crore to develop facilities for devotees and infrastructure at Ujjain. The state government will develop permanent infrastructure so that people of Ujjain can avail their benefits even after Simhastha. He urged the Union Minister to make available maximum funds for this mega event.
