How Reliance Industries aims to generate additional Rs 20,000 crore revenue from FY20

New Delhi: Reliance Industries, India’s largest private sector company, aims to generate another Rs 20,000 crore revenue from its digital services from FY20. Speaking at the 42nd annual general meeting (AGM), RIL managing director and chairman Mukesh Ambani said digital services like the internet of things (IoT), Jio GigaFiber, its optical fibre-based home broadband services and digital TV services will see the commercial launch from the current financial year.

Jio’s IoT services aims to connect 2 billion devices in the country, through which data can be transferred from one point to another. For example, Ambani said, through its IoT services, connect electricity meters will be connected so that it will transmit meter reading information to their respective offices digitally, reducing both time and energy involved in collecting meter reading data. Jio will rollout its IoT services from January 1, 2020

RIL aims to do commercial rollout its Jio Giga Fibre home broadband service from September 5 to 20 million homes. These home broadband plans will be priced between Rs 700 to Rs 10,000 per month, said Ambani.

Ambani said Jio GigaFiber to be bundled with most premium OTTs. The company has invested in 14 startups that complement Jio’s services. Under Jio GigaFiber Welcome Offer – Jio Fiber customers opting for annual plan – JIO-FOREVER – to get a FULL HD TELEVISION or a Home PC and a 4K SET-TOP-BOX absolutely free, Ambani said.

Jio has partnered with Microsoft to offer comprehensive technologies services – from computing to storage – at attractive price points, said Mr Ambani.
