Delhi Capitals successfully defended 10 runs in the season’s first super over as they defeated Kolkata Knight Riders at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi. Delhi’s Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw combined to score 10/1 in six balls to set a target of 11 runs. The daunting Andre Russell and Dinesh Karthik stepped up to chase down the total, but were outfoxed by the yorker deliveries and sheer brilliance of Kagiso Rabada. The South African pacer dismissed Russell, before placing the deliveries in the right areas to disallow KKR from scoring a boundary. KKR scored only 7 runs.
“I think it was a great game, both teams fought pretty well. It went to the Super over and they came out on top. I think Prasidh has been bowling consistently for us at the death, it was a straight forward decision to make. And I think he bowled really well. He has been bowling the tough overs, so we need to back him. It was a topsy-turvy kinda game,” said KKR captain after the defeat.
