Terror Threat to First India-SA ODI, Confirms Police

Police has confirmed that there is terror threat to the first ODI match between Indian and South Africa which is to be played at the Sawai Mansingh stadium in Jaipur on February 21, leading to tightening of security, reported IANS.

BL Soni, IG, said that police received intelligence inputs regarding terror threat to the match, said report.

“We have terror inputs of the threat and beefed up security at Sawai Mansingh Stadium (the match venue),” he was quoted as saying.

A few days ago, a wing of al-Qaida warned of terror strikes across India, particularly during sporting events like IPL, Hockey World Cup and Commonwealth Games.

However, Home Minister P Chidambaram has assured all the visiting countries of foolproof security for the upcoming sporting events.
