A late flourish by captain MS Dhoni propelled Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to 175/5 in 20 overs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai against Rajasthan Royals (RR). Put to bat, the hosts were off to a slow start as they lost both the openers Ambati Rayudu (1) and Shane Watson (13) cheaply. Coming in to bat at number four, Kedar Jadhav failed to make an impact as he was dismissed on 8 by Dhawal Kulkarni. Suresh Raina and Dhoni then revived CSK’s innings as the duo stitched together a 61-run stand for the 4th wicket. Raina departed for 36. His innings included 4 fours and 1 six. Dwayne Bravo (27) then added 56 runs with Dhoni for the 5th wicket. Bravo made 27 off 16 balls. His innings included 3 fours and 1 six. However, Dhoni ensured that CSK finish well beyond the 150-run mark as 60 runs were scored off the last 3 overs. Jaydev Unadkat went for 28 runs in the 20th over that included four sixes. Dhoni’s 75 not out off 46 balls (4 fours, 4 sixes) is his 2nd best in the IPL. This was his 21st IPL half-century.
