Toll Rises over 100 in Pak’s Suicide Bomb Attack

The death toll in Pakistan’s Mohamand agency suicide bomb attack has soared upto more than 100 as more bodies were recovered from the debris, said media reports.

Geo News reported that over 100 people who were injured in the blast are in critical condition.

An official Meraj Khan said that more bodies were recovered from debris today, reports said.

A suicide bomber riding a motorbike had blown himself up on Friday as hundreds of people gathered around the office of a senior government official in Mohmand region, where security forces have stepped up attacks on Taliban militants in recent weeks.

The powerful blast pulled down at least 30 shops including two hotels in Yakkaghand. The explosion also caused the Yakkaghand jail to collapse, allowing 35 prisoners to escape.

The outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has accepted responsibility for the blast.

The blast targeted the members of Ambar Peace Committee present at the government office, TTP spokesman Ikramullah Mohmand told Geo News from an unknown destination.
