Suicide Bomber Strikes in Kabul, Eight Dead, 31 Injured

A suicide car bomber struck in Kabul on Tuesday, killing nearly eight people and injuring 31.

According to reports, the blast took place in the city’s main diplomatic area, across the street from former vice president’s residence and just one kilometer away from the Indian embassy.

Reports said that all Indian diplomats and embassy staff were safe. The Ambassador is currently in Muscat.

In the explosion, five Indians – two IT workers, a cleaner, a cook and a guard – were injured.

The bomber’s car went up in flames outside the gate to the Heetal Hotel, owned by former President Rabbani’s son. The home of former vice president Ahmad Zia Massoud, brother of late anti-Soviet guerrilla leader Ahmad Shah Massoud, was also heavily damaged.
