Prestigious Public Service Award to MP

Bhopal. For ‘Improving the delivery of public services’ Madhya Pradesh has now got the United Nations Accreditation. MP will be honoured on United Nations Public Service Award Day at New York on Tomorrow. Minister of State for Public Service Management Shri Brijendra Pratap Singh, Principal Secretary Public Service Management Shri Iqbal Singh Bains and Deputy Secretary Shri Manohar Dube are leaving for New York Today to receive this internationally renowned United Nations award.
Besides receiving the awards from the UN General Body Chairman, the delegation will also participate in Inter-Ministerial Conference on June 27. These awards are given for responsive public administration, innovations and professional efficiency. Madhya Pradesh is getting second prize in the category “Improving the delivery of public services”. The United Nations had received 471 entries from all over the world.
Conferring this award by United Nations to the state for easy and smooth delivery of public services to people is a matter of pride for the people of Madhya Pradesh. These results were declared last month after shortlisting of entries by United Nations public service experts from September 15 to December 31, 2011. For this, en entry was also sent by Madhya Pradesh Public Service Management Department. The United Nations vide its proposal 57/277 announced to give away this award on United Nations Public Service Day on June 23. Objective of the award is to promote values and quality of public service at local, national and international levels. Through it, recognition and honour are also accorded as awards for international level innovations.
So far, about 1.25 crore applications have been received under Public Service Delivery Guarantee Act in Madhya Pradesh. Under the Act, fine is recovered for failure in delivery of public service to citizens. Fine is imposed on the erring officials. In Madhya Pradesh, 336 Public Service Centres are being opened under PPP Mode for effective implementation of Public Service Delivery Guarantee Act. Madhya Pradesh Public Service Delivery Guarantee Act covers 52 public services of 16 departments. Time-limit has been prescribed for delivery of service.
