Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took a big meeting regarding the apprehension of less rain and drought in Madhya Pradesh. He said that there has been very less rainfall in the month of August. Due to which the crops are getting affected. Will work with full force to save Kharif crops. The CM said that the crops would be saved by releasing water from the dam. Now the demand for electricity has increased. Will make better arrangements for this. The government stands with the farmers in the hour of crisis.

 

The CM said that he has been meeting the farmers of the state for three to four days. One cannot sit peacefully in such a situation. Can’t sleep. I am not one to sit around. There is great power in prayer. The Chief Minister said that he would go to Ujjain on Monday to pray to Lord Mahakal for rain.

He instructed the officers to hold a meeting of the Water Utility Committee soon. Where there is water in the dam, water should be given to the farmers for irrigation. Inspect the dams and get information about how much water is there now. CM Shivraj Singh asked the district administration to issue advisory regarding irrigation to the farmers. Will make farmers aware of the scientific methods to deal with the crisis situation. I myself will appeal to the farmer brothers.

CM Shivraj called a meeting of principal secretaries of 10 departments to review the situation of deficient rainfall in MP.

Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha said, ‘Shivraj ji is requested to end the yatras that you are undertaking. Your ministers should go to the fields, meet the farmers, ask about their problems, look at their crops, talk about whether they are getting electricity or not. Madhya Pradesh will not be benefited by traveling in an empty vehicle. I want the entire cabinet to pay attention to the farmers at this time. So that the farmers can get some benefit.

Congress leaders reached the fields at Chorkhedi joint of Kala Peepal Assembly and saw damaged soybean crops.

Farmers said, they are not getting enough electricity.

Farmers told Congress leaders that they were not getting enough electricity. Electricity is available only for 4 to 5 hours. Due to drought like conditions and lack of adequate electricity, the soybean crop has been damaged. Due to less electricity, no suitable means of irrigation is being created. Due to which the soybean crop has dried up.

Congress Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha and MLA Kunal Chaudhary visited the fields in Kalapipal area of Shajapur and saw the crops. Congress leaders reached the fields and saw damaged soybean crops.

Congress MLA Kunal Chaudhary alleged that the Chief Minister only does event politics. The condition of farmers is bad due to drought. Same situation happened in wheat also. When prices were rising, exports were stopped. When onion prices were increasing, export was stopped.
