Late CM Jayalalithaa’s niece approaches Madras HC to seek stay on her biopic starring Kangana Ranaut

Ever since it was announced that Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut will be playing late Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa in AL Vijay’s Thalaivi, there has been an immense buzz around the movie. While Kangana is busy prepping for the film, a recent report has stated that Jayalalithaa’s niece has approached Madras High Court seeking a stay on the biopic. She has also filed a petition against the web series being made on the life of the politician.

As per a report by Times Now, Deepa has approached Madras HC seeking a stay on the biopic and web series alleging that the directors of the same did not seek her consent.

The report states that in her affidavit, Jayalalithaa’s niece has stated that her consent was not sought by the directors AL Vijay and Gautham Menon (director of the web series). Deepa feels that the facts could have been presented in a wrong manner that could portray Jayalalithaa in a bad light.

It is being said that Deepa wants to ensure that there is some kind of guarantee given by both the directors in terms of presenting the politician’s biopic on the silver screen. She wants to court to intervene so that dialogues or instances don’t portray a different picture of Jayalalithaa’s life.

Meanwhile, Kangana is currently in Los Angeles, California where she is preparing for the film. The actress is also undergoing various look tests for the biopic. She has also been taking Bharatnatyam lessons as a part of her prep for the flick. Several photos of the actress are also being shared on her team’s official Instagram handle these days.

Thalaivi is being produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shaailesh R Singh. Talking about the biopic, Kangana had earlier said, “I was working on my own biopic, but her (Jayalalithaa) story is very similar to my story. In fact, it is a bigger success story than mine. When I heard the narration of this film, I found many similarities between both the stories.”
