CM directs to present effective action plan for Khan river’s purification

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed to present an effective action plan for purification of Khan river with a view to releasing clean water into Narmada-Kshipra Link Project. He said that it is necessary to purify Khan river before completion of Narmada-Kshipra Link Project to prevent its polluted waters mixing with Kshipra river’s water.
Shri Chouhan was reviewing progress of Khan river’s purification. He directed that measures like cleaning water of Khan river through a treatment plant before falling into Kshipra river or diversion of polluted water should be considered. He said that purification of Khan river is also necessary for purification of Kshipra river. He directed that riverside corridor project’s proposed works should also be examined side by side.
It was informed that a scheme has been chalked out to trap and treat 450 sewer outfalls of Indore city which fall into Khan river. As per preliminary estimates, Rs. 320 crore will be needed to prevent Khan river’s water falling into Kshipra river. At present, work is underway to construct a 122.5 MLD water treatment plant at village Kabeetkheri.
Principal Secretary Finance Shri Ajay Nath, Principal Secretary Urban Administration & Development Shri S.P.S. Parihar, Principal Secretary Water Resources Shri Radheshyam Julaniya, Principal Secretary Narmada Valley Development Shri Rajneesh Vaish, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Shri Manoj Shrivastava, Indore Collector Shri Akash Tripathi and Indore Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shri Rakesh Singh were present at the meeting.
