Adipurush: Mukesh Khanna slams Om Raut; feels Prabhas starrer is an insult to Ramayana

Arun Govil calls Adipurush as Hollywood ki Cartoon

Prabhas’ Adipurush, directed by Om Raut, has surpassed the Rs 300 crore-mark in just three days. However, the film has been facing backlash for its story, dialogues and visual effects. Arun Govil, who played Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan, came down heavily on Adipurush. He called it ‘Hollywood ki cartoon’ and questioned the need to modernise the epic. For the uninitiated, Adipurush is based on Valmiki’s Ramayana.

Arun Govil, who was known for his portrayal of Lord Ram, called Adipurush ‘Hollywood ki cartoon.’ Speaking to ABP, he revealed that he hadn’t watched the film and questioned the need to mordernise the epic.

He said, “What was wrong with the depiction we have all known and loved for all these years? What was the need to change things? Perhaps the team doesn’t have proper faith in Lord Rama and Sita, and that is why they made these changes.”

Reportedly, Mukesh Khanna slammed Adipurush on his YouTube vlog, where he wrote,” There is no bigger disrespect to the Ramayana than Adipurush. Om Raut seems to have no knowledge of the Ramayana, and on top of that, we have the great Buddhajeevi writer Manoj Muntashir Shukla, who has turned our Ramayana into Kalyug. His nonsensical dialogue and sleep-inducing screenplay have created a film that can make even sleeping pills blush.

On the film Mukesh Khanna said history will never forgive and forget what he did with the Ramayana: “It’s clear after watching the film that Raut is influenced by Hollywood filmmaking, and inspired by that, he has stuffed this Ramayana with nuisance. If you wanted to take cinematic liberties, you could have made a fictional film. But you played with the images of gods, and hence, Adipurush is a ‘bhayanak mazaak‘ (a dangerous joke) with the Ramayana.
