Over 400 died in Hurricane Freddy in 3 African countries Malawi, Mozambique and Madagascar

More than 400 people have died due to Hurricane Freddy in 3 African countries Malawi, Mozambique and Madagascar. At the same time, around 700 people have been injured.

According to media reports, about 88,000 people have been rendered homeless due to rains, floods and mudslides.

Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera visited the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Thursday to meet flood victims. During this, he has announced 14 days of national mourning in the country.

In the storm-affected areas, people are also facing difficulty in procuring essential goods. According to the Ministry of Climate Change, Cyclone Freddy first made landfall in Malawi in February. It has calmed down now, but there is a possibility of heavy rains for a few more days. On the other hand, due to landslides in Mozambique, many villages have been completely cut off.

The death toll after Cyclone Freddy is still rising, even as hundreds remain missing and locals are angered about the lack of rescue services and relief items.

The storm tore through Southern Africa over the weekend for a second time after first making landfall in late February. It is one of the longest-lasting tropical cyclones ever recorded, and one of the deadliest in Africa in recent years.
