Madhya Pradesh Government received prestigious United Nations Public Service Award

BHOPAL: The state government’s efforts of providing good services to public are paying rich dividends. The prestigious United Nations Public Service Award 2012 has been awarded to the Madhya Pradesh Government.

This award was given for the successful implementation of a legislation guaranteeing public service. The information was given by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday. He was addressing the media at the Secretariat.

He said, “The 2012 event is particularly significant as it marks the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the United Nations Public Service Day and Awards Ceremony.” The award will be given to the state at a function in New York next month.

He informs that the nomination had been filed by the State’s Department of Public Service Management for Lok Sewaon Ke Pradan Ki Guarantee Act 2010 (Public Service Guarantee Act).

In the category of ‘Improving the delivery of public services’, the state initiate has been awarded the second position.

The state beats 470 applications received by UN this year to claim the top spot for its best performance in the field of public service informs Chouhan. For the further improvement in public service the state will be going to set a Lok Seva Kendra under the Private Public Partnership model in all development blocks in the State from September 25.

In this Kendra online grievances will be received and the process will be monitored from the state capital.

The Chief Minister also informs that out of the total of 1.11 crore applications received, 1.10 crore have been disposed of. About 16.35 lakh have been registered online. He also informs about the setting up of 400 Public Service Centers under PPP mode for more effective implementation of the Public Services Delivery Guarantee Act-2010 in the State.

The act also covers 52 public services of 16 Government departments. The act also includes punishment for those, who does not perform their duty honestly.
